The University of Miami Frost School of Music offers On-Line Music Theory to students around the country who may not have had the time or the opportunity to study music theory in high school.

If you are serious about enrolling in an undergraduate music degree program, would like to improve your auditions, and get a head-start in your music career, then our On-Line Music Theory course at the University of Miami Frost School of Music is a great opportunity for you!

You will study notation, intervals, scales, basic ear training, and triads. The course is taught by Frost School of Music professors, so expert help is never more than a click away, and because the course is online, you can learn at your own pace, using any computer.

On-Line Music Theory is being offered because so many universities and colleges have expressed that many incoming freshmen do not have the skills necessary to enter their first semester theory/musicianship classes. The Frost School designed this course to meet the needs of those students by creating a hands-on, drill and practice, instructor-led learning that can be taken during the summer, fall, or spring semesters.

On-Line Music Theory is an exciting course because it offers a competency-based approach that customizes the experience for each student. It enables students to work on areas where they are weakest, including basic ear training, and not have to waste time on concepts that they already comprehend.
