Located
on the Coral Gables campus, the Maurice Gusman Concert Hall houses
a 600 seat concert hall (seating
chart), a professional recording studio, and the administrative
offices of the Phillip and Patricia Frost School of Music. The Office
of the Dean, Undergraduate Studies, Graduate Studies, and Music Admissions
are all located in the main floor.
The Gusman Concert Hall is named in honor of
Maurice Gusman, a donor to the
University of Miami.
The concert hall is used
for large performing forces, as well as smaller
ensembles. Each year, over 100 concerts and events are
presented in this hall; most events are free to the
public.
The Gusman recording studio
is housed within Gusman Hall. It is situated on its top
two floors, which overlook the concert hall sound
chamber. This studio was originally dedicated in January
of 1975. Since its inception, this studio has been
completely rebuilt three times, with three different
recording consoles and other recording equipment. |
