Scholarships are essential in attracting top students to the Frost
School of Music. They also provide one of the most important giving
opportunities for donors.
“My education changed my life and
made my career what it is today. I am a big supporter of education
and I wanted to give back to a fund that would help others, like
it helped me when I was a student. There are a lot of people with
the skills, talent, and devotion to educate themselves and succeed,
but may not have the financial assistance to make their dream come
true. Scholarships boost confidence.”
-- Jon Secada, a two-time Grammy award-winning
artist, received his bachelor and master’s degrees from the University
of Miami Frost School of Music. Secada continues to support and
invest in student scholarships at the Frost School.
Once an endowed scholarship has been awarded, the University will
provide the donor with an annual report, including information about
the student recipient(s) and the status of the endowment. In addition,
the University will provide opportunities for one-on-one meetings
between the donor and the student(s) at an annual scholarship donor
recognition event. Because endowed funds last in perpetuity, one
of the most gratifying aspects of creating an endowed scholarship
is the opportunity to support generations of bright, talented, and
enthusiastic students.
"Don't follow trends-be true to yourself.
You need to find your own voice."
-- Bruce Hornsby, B.M. '77
